April 18th, 2007 Gaming Talk

WCS,

The event tomorrow will be about gaming and programing. There will be pizza and drinks at 9:15 in BCC 122. Introduced will be Project Darkstar, and Java3d two things used programming Java games. Plus other fun gaming related topics.

Also Sun Microsystems has rolled out the Temple of Sun Contest with a US$5,000 cash prize and other cool prizes.
Temple of the Sun Game
Put your C/C++ coding skills to the test.
» Play Now

The game is played from the keyboard. The arrow keys allow the player to move the character to the left and right, as well as climb up and down walls that are covered with vines. The “C” key causes the character to jump, the “X” key results in a crouch, and the “Z” key causes the character to unleash his whip attack. It is a fun simple game so try it out.

See you tomorrow,
Kira Morrow

April 10th, 2007 AT&T On Campus Interviews

Dear WCS Members

We just wanted to bring to your attention that AT&T is going to be coming to Rutgers on April 17th for on campus interviews for their MATREX program, and there should still be some time slots open. Please note that you must be graduating 0 – 6 months before the position is starting, and also that you should NOT apply at att.com/jobs as is said, but simply just forward your résumé to Tom Grocott (contact information at bottom of attached flyer). Here is the job description for those of you interested: MATREX Job Description NJ. You will be able to focus on any one role (software engineering, development, testing, project management, systems engineering, etc.) while also being put on different projects throughout (eventually gaining experience in various areas).

Always keep in mind when applying for jobs, that the listed requirements are generally what an ideal candidate for the job would be. If you don’t match every single one it is our experience that you should apply anyway, as many times employers are satisfied with most of the requirements - just show that you are a bright person and can learn new things quickly. Good luck everyone!
