To Blog and Eat Cheese

I meant to blog about something other than acne, I really did. I forget to blog. Time just moves too quickly. Oh another week’s gone by? I also have the wedding blog to update.

Saturday, Bryan, Rachi and I went to see Carolyn perform at her recital. I told her she would be awesomeness, which is a real word btw, and she was, and then some. After her last piece, I turned to Bryan and said, “that was pretty cool.” He said, “that was awesome!” We told her she should play it at our wedding :)

After the performance, the three of us went to Houlihans with Carolyn and Tom. We only ordered drinks since we had dinner at Uno’s earlier. I ordered some fruity thing I didn’t care for much.

Anyway, the reason I actually remembered to blog is because I was reading this: Animal Advocate Doesn’t See Why Veganism Is So Difficult To Do. It’s a good blog article and I enjoyed reading the comments after as well.

It always bothers me when people make fun of vegetarians/vegans. Some people in the comments said it’s because they act like they’re better than us for giving up meat. First of all, very few people are like that, but even if they are, I think they have a right to be. They are better than us. In fact, they’re doing us a favor by not eating meat. Meat eating isn’t good for the environment.

Do I eat meat? Yes. Do i feel guilty about it? Not really. I don’t eat a lot of meat and when I do, it’s usually chicken. I can’t really make myself feel sorry for chicken. I’m not a big fan of meat and I hate cooking it, so if I cook for myself, it’s usually something meatless. I eat it when other people make it. Meat for me is just a matter of convenience.

I could maybe be a vegetarian, but never could I go vegan. You all know how I feel about cheese. If I can’t give up dairy to look good on my wedding day, you know how important it is to me. It’s also a real inconvenience to other people. Most people I know don’t have a problem making special vegan food, but it’s harder. Anyway, it doesn’t matter since we all know it’s not going to happen.

I think people should eat what they want and feel comfortable with … to an extent. We do consume an a lot of meat, well, a lot of food in general, and it’s really unnecessary. People should focus on eating healthy. A little bit of meat isn’t bad, we need protein, but too much of anything is bad for you. Everyone knows we should be eating more veggies and fruit, but we don’t.

Here are some meatless recipes if you feel like being healthy tonight. I haven’t tried most of them, but they sound really good.

I was a vegan at one point in time, but then I saw a burger, my mouthed watered and everything else is history. I eat more chicken than anything too. I do, however, enjoy cooking things like meatloaf, steak, spaghetti and meatballs. I mostly only eat beef & chicken, all of that other stuff I wouldn’t be caught dead eating.

spaghetti and meatballs is my favorite meal, but we use meatless meatballs. We like ‘em better than real ones. Dunno why.

Yum. All that food does sound good. Especially the spinach panini and pasta salad. :D

My best friend is vegan (she is allergic to seafood and reacts to dairy.. but she loves cheese) and her family is vegetarian. She has no problems if I eat a chicken salad or something in front of her. But when we go camping, I go vegan…it’s simpler and don’t have to worry about the meat in the cooler.

I hate it when people try to put their cats or dogs on a veggie diet.. they are 100% meat eaters!
