Happy 4th of July weekend! Going to see the fireworks in town tonight and then in Ridgewood on Monday. Should really go see the fireworks in Red Bank next year. Been living here four years already and I’ve only been to Red Bank like three times.

Making baked oatmeal for breakfast. Oatmeal, raisins, almond milk, apple sauce, banana, egg, baking powder, chia seeds, cinnamon, ginger and pumpkin pie spice. I’d like to tell you how much of everything I used, but I wasn’t really measuring. I know I used one banana and one egg :) Baked at 350 for 30 minutes.

I made a Deep Dish Cookie Pie. I thought it was delicious. I did substitute chia seeds for the flax, which didn’t grid up very well. Bryan wasn’t crazy about that. It does give it a strange texture if you’re not used to chia seeds. Took all my will power not to eat the entire pie though.

Last weekend Bryan and I had dinner at the Cheesecake Factory. 2000 calories doesn’t get you very far there, but, yum :P Sunday was Yori’s surprise birthday party and we managed to actually surprise him! I made smores ice cream, of course. I made the chocolate ice cream then toasted marshmallow on top of graham cracker crumbs and drizzled homemade hot fudge over the marshmallows. It was magical.

Work has been busy, but manageable. Someone sued att again so we’re non-exempt again which means paid overtime … again. And frelling eclock :( Damn you eclock! So, this gives me further incentive to get promoted. Paid overtime sounds like a good thing, but to get it, you have to work more than 40 hours in a week and it’s supposed to be approved ahead of time. So if I work 10 hours Monday, I’m encouraged to make it up some other time during the week and I probably won’t get paid any extra. I can’t just stay late whenever I please to get my work done which sucks because some weeks I have a lot more work than others.

There is a very bright side though. We have an insane amount of training to do this year and there’s no way I’d be able to get it done without working extra hours: $$$. And Roy can’t call me on the weekends to chat about work. Well, he’s not supposed to anyway. I had gotten used to it, it didn’t make me angry anymore, but I’d really rather not be called on Father’s day while I’m making breakfast for my parents to talk about who can work on NDR. It can wait!

Don’t worry, Roy won’t read my blog. He’s too busy working all holiday weekend on the interns’ mobile web app project. Really.

  1. I know what you mean about having to get approved for OT ahead of time… =/ It sucks, so yeah, working when you won’t get paid sucks too. =/

Anyway, that deep dish cookie pie looks insane… I don’t even know if I’d want to touch that! Maybe I’ve gotten sick of sweets? Hehe.

  2. Oh my gosh. That cookie pie looks so scrummy! We don’t have opportunity for paid over time. Just working extra – for one out of everyone in my office I’m contracted to work 4 and a half hours a week more. That’s half a freaking day, so I can relate with being frustrated with the workplace haha!

  3. My mum works about 37 hours a week normally… if she works overtime I think it also has to be approved or something, at least a week beforehand. She doesn’t mind though, my gosh, she’s a workaholic!

That pie looks absolutely delicious. I don’t really like oatmeal but it tends to be nice baked, like in cookies. :D I think I’m a picky eater haha. When James and I make muffins we usually muck around with the measurements to get it just how we like. :D

  4. Yum, food is definately my weakness when it comes to celebrating ANYTHING. Christmas, halloween (which we don’t even celebrate here in Finland) etc. are good reasons to bake some yummy cakes & cookies :D
